Welcome to the 2023-24 school year!

I'm Miss Purdy and I am the school counselor at SMS. I have worked at SMS for five years. I have been a Bearcat for the past 26 years in various levels; teaching elementary, counseling, student support specialist, and a Title One reading teacher. I love working with and supporting our middle school students. I advocate for all students in academics, career, and attendance. I also schedule students into their classes. I provide support for any issues that students may need support in.

Last week to get grades to A's, B's and C's to go to Full Blast

This Friday, October 27 will be the last day to have students get their grades to A's, B's and C's for students to earn the Full Blast trip for this quarter.

8th Grade: Makenzie Poore, Da'Mareiona Robinson, Makayla Soler, Lee Campbell, Greg Jones, Mylen Nwarie, Kamilah Wurie-Guy

**Student Council members have been put into their own advisory with Ms. Withers, they will help with many leadership projects at Springfield.

MI Career Quest 8th Grade

On October 24, the 8th graders will be heading to Kalamazoo for the MI Career Quest to get hands-on experience with all kinds of jobs in the area. We will be going to the Expo Center in the afternoon. After the event, ask your child what was their favorite career that they explored.

Academics and Attendance

Grades and attendance tend to go hand in hand. It is imperative that students are attending their classes at school.

Career Information

When students become 9th graders at Battle Creek Central High School, they will determine their career pathway for the remainder of their high school career. At SMS, we explore the different career pathways. Each month we will focus on a different career pathway. This month our focus will be on Informational Technology.
