The SEED Award Program (Save Encourage Educate Dream) is a competitive award program that allows BCPS students to begin depositing funds for their education into a savings account that they own themselves. Each SEED Award is worth $500 towards a 529 college savings account at Omni Credit Union.
All BCPS students, from kindergarteners to 11th graders, are eligible to apply for the scholarships and students can reapply each year. There is no limit on the number of times a student can receive the SEED Award. Students who receive multiple awards will have $500.00 added to their pre-existing 529 account at Omni Credit Union. Awards are made based on applicants' essays, transcripts, grade-point averages and recommendation forms (Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students have the choice to submit an essay or a picture book).
