All BCPS Students Transition to Fully Remote April 13 – April 23
Dear BCPS Families,
In response to the continued community spread of COVID-19 in Calhoun County, the BCPS School Board tonight voted for all BCPS students in grades pre-k - 12 to switch to fully remote instruction starting Tuesday, April 13 through Friday, April 23. Our plan is for students to return to the in-person instruction beginning Monday, April 26. *This means there will be no in-person school tomorrow, Tuesday, April 13.*
[UPDATED] Remote schooling will begin on Wednesday, April 14 as our teaching staff prepare for the switch to remote learning tomorrow. In the meantime:
- Students in grades 6-12 should expect to receive more information soon from building staff tomorrow as to what the schedule for remote learning will look like.
- For students in grades pk-5, we are working to set up Chromebook pickups at each building beginning tomorrow - stay tuned for more information. Building staff will be in contact with you tomorrow as well to discuss learning plans during this time.
*** Meal pickups will be available at each of our schools tomorrow from 10 AM until 12:30 p.m. and at Battle Creek Central High School from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. ***
In addition:
All in-person athletics practices and games as well as after school programming and extracurriculars will be postponed from April 13 until at least April 26. The 21st Century program will offer remote programming following the same system from the first semester.
- Students enrolled at the Calhoun Area Career Center will have their absences excused during this time period.
According to public health officials, our safety measures have been effective so far at limiting spread within our schools. Our current plan is to return to in-person instruction on Monday, April 26. We will continuously evaluate this plan and keep in contact with local and statewide health departments to ensure the health and safety of our students, families and staff.
