Helping kids stay in school
Communities in Schools is in schools to help kids stay in school. When it comes to unlocking the full potential of each and every child, Communities in Schools is dedicated to doing whatever it takes. With CIS, schools, businesses and community agencies all work together with site coordinators to deliver supports to students and families.
Communities In Schools (CIS) is the nation’s largest and most effective national organization dedicated to keeping kids in school and helping them succeed in life. Many children face enormous challenges both inside and outside the classroom. The CIS model positions highly trained professionals “site coordinators” inside schools to partner with administrators, parents/guardians, counselors, school social workers and teachers to assess students’ needs and provide resources to help them succeed. Whether it’s food, school supplies, health care, counseling, academic assistance or a positive role model, Communities In Schools is there to help. The CIS Model of Integrated Student Supports is our evidence-based approach, adaptable to meet each community's unique needs.

We believe that every child needs and deserves:
- A one-on-one relationship with a caring adult
- A safe place to learn and grow
- A healthy start and a healthy future
- A marketable skill to use upon graduation
- A chance to give back to peers and community
