The BCPS Summer Enrichment Program is a free, in-person program offered Monday-Thursday, June 14 – July 29 or in three-week sessions (Session 1: June 14 – July 1 | Session 2: July 6 – July 29). Sign up for the full summer or a three-week session today to experience the Bearcat Advantage this summer.
The Summer Enrichment Program is a great fit for students who need support to get back on track, extra enrichment to stay challenged and engaged while school is out, or just a fun way to spend time with other kids this summer. Summer scholars will:
- Pursue their interests with hands-on projects and experiential learning.
- Enjoy the outdoors, and visit fun and educational destinations throughout our region.
- Experience enrichment activities, virtual field trips, projects, experiments and scavenger hunts to keep students learning and engaged.
BCPS offers a suite of summer camps and programs for students of all ages, including the Summer Enrichment Program, which combine learning and fun! Program details by grade level below:
Students currently in grades K-5
Elementary Summer Enrichment will be hosted at Ann J. Kellogg and Valley View Elementary schools from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Morning academic activities take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and field trips, arts, outdoor activities and enrichment will happen in the afternoon.
Students currently in grades 6-8
Current middle school students will be hosted at Battle Creek Central High School on Mondays through Thursdays. Morning academics will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, and field trips, arts, outdoor activities and enrichment will happen in the afternoon until 3 p.m. Middle school students will also experience virtual college tours!
Students currently in grades 9-11
Summer enrichment is also offered to students currently in grades 9-11 for the primary purpose of credit recovery. Each student will be assigned to a teacher who will help him or her get into an online class and will support them all along the way to success Your student’s Academy Team will reach out if this is a good option for your student.
Other Free Summer Opportunities
- Kindergarten Success Program: Students entering kindergarten at BCPS have the opportunity to enroll in the Kindergarten Success Program, a free, full-day kindergarten preparation summer program that helps build necessary foundational skills, such as literacy and math, that sets students up for future success in school. - Virtual learning opportunities:
- BCPS students in grades k-5 will be able to opt-in to take their Chromebooks home over the summer to continue learning through the Dreambox (math) and either i-Ready or Amplify (reading and math) programs.
- Additionally, all students in grades k-8 will have the opportunity to opt-in to use their Chromebooks over the summer to participate in the Renaissance Accelerated Reader program, which helps challenge students to push their reading and comprehension abilities.
- Battle Creek Central High School students who are only behind by two credits or fewer will have the choice of participating virtually in their summer learning.
- Students attending W.K. Kellogg Preparatory High School will be able to continue with their online studies through the Tracker system. For questions, please reach out to principal Calvin Williams at cwilliams@battlecreekpublicschools.org.
- Kids Read Now: All BCPS students in grades k-5 will receive books mailed to them throughout the summer. Each book will include engaging discussion activities to help keep students excited about reading.
