New At-Home Learning and College Prep Resources Offered by GVSU

Families across Battle Creek are adapting to a new normal as the state follows stay-at-home orders to stop the spread of COVID-19. We may all be separate in our homes, but we are in this together, and it is our goal to provide support that helps you navigate these uncertain times.

As part of this effort, we wanted to let our BCPS family know that Grand Valley State University is now offering remote learning and college prep resources available for free online. This is an unprecedented time for us all, but it’s also an opportunity to focus on the future. Whether students are just learning to read or stressing about writing college essays, there are helpful tools for students at every grade level:

The Grand Valley State University Battle Creek Regional Outreach Center is also offering video and phone conferencing to help high school students prepare for college. The center is offering virtual advising appointments to help with:

  • College and career exploration
  • College admission application and essay support
  • College advising
  • Assistance with FAFSA completion and support
  • Scholarship application and essay support

Video and phone conferencing are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. To set up a virtual advising appointment, email

From all of us at BCPS, we hope you are all staying safe and healthy, and are here to support you.
