Battle Creek Public Schools: A Great Place to Grow

Battle Creek Public Schools serves a diverse community of approximately 4,000 students including pre-K through high school, and adult education. Our mission is to provide a world-class college-, career- and culture-ready education for every student, in every grade, at every school.

Excellence is on the rise at BCPS thanks to widespread community support, including an unprecedented $51 million investment over five years from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. Our transformation includes new cutting-edge curricula, increased staff support and professional development, community-based supports for families and students, and increased investment in our classrooms. We are thrilled to open two new schools in the 2019–20 school year, including an International Baccalaureate-focused elementary school and a new STEM middle school.

At BCPS, you can make an impact. We are looking for passionate and driven educators to join our team and help shape Battle Creek’s next generation of leaders.

If you want to make a real different in the lives of your students, BCPS is the place for you. BCPS is committed to providing a high quality and equitable education to all students, and we know that our staff are at the core of that promise. We support our amazing educators with ongoing professional development, mentoring and benefits that make our district not just a great place to work, but a great place to stay and grow. We offer:

  • Competitive pay and benefits including signing bonuses, retention incentives, tuition reimbursement, generous health insurance coverage options (including life, dental and vision), and supplemental compensation opportunities. Learn more about teacher benefits.
  • Enrichment and professional development including a new teacher mentorship program, seven different comprehensive professional learning tracks through the Transformational Teacher Institute, and training in trauma-informed practices and restorative justice.
  • Expansive support staff including adult mentorship for students through our Bearcat Coach and Student Success programs, a literacy tutor in addition to the teacher in all K–2nd classrooms, family advocates who engage with parents, and more.
