Battle Creek Public Schools' Board of Education will have two seats up for election this coming November. Read below for more information about the role of school boards and how to get involved.

The Michigan Association of School Boards' (MASB's) Get On Board campaign aims to recruit civic-minded individuals who are passionate about enhancing education for every student. If you or someone you know is interested in giving back to the community, school board service might be the right opportunity for you.

Serving on a school board is more than just a volunteer role; it's a chance to make a lasting impact on the education system. It provides a platform for individuals to advocate for public education and actively contribute to the betterment of local schools.

To assist you, MASB has created a free and comprehensive toolkit with numerous helpful resources. Alongside the online resources, you are invited to attend a virtual town hall event. During these sessions, you will be guided through the process of filing and running for a school board seat. You'll also learn about the next steps, which will provide an opportunity for you to have your questions answered.

Notice to those running for a seat this year

To avoid potential issues, MASB encourages all candidates for local school board to review their Affidavit of Identity to ensure they have written “No Party Affiliation” on the line requesting the political party for the office sought.

Affidavits of Identity may be amended prior to the July 26 filing deadline.
