Honoring the Legacy of South Western Junior High
One of the items included in last year's Bond Proposal was the demolition of Southwestern Junior High. The building has long stood as a symbol of pride for generations of Wildcats and holds a special place in the history of Battle Creek Public Schools.
While the district deeply values the memories connected to Southwestern, the building has been vacant for many years and is now in very poor condition. Empty buildings can quickly become unsafe, posing challenges for both the district and the surrounding neighborhood. As a result, BCPS has determined that demolition is the most responsible and safe path forward.
Before that process begins, the district wants to give alumni and community members the opportunity to visit the building one last time. BCPS will host a farewell event that allows former students, staff, and neighbors to walk through the halls, reconnect with one another, and celebrate the many memories made there. Because of the building's condition, all visitors will be required to sign a liability waiver upon entry.
Event Details: Date: November 15th from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM
All visitors will be required to sign a liability waiver before entry.
