Oct 15, 2021 | District

Greetings Bearcat Families,
We are reaching out to inform you that in response to the needs of our dedicated staff, next Friday, October 22, will be a non-instructional day, meaning there will be no school for staff or students Friday, October 22.
While many of us were hoping to take a few steps back toward normalcy this year, the reality for many has been that this year has had as many or more challenges as last year. Staff throughout the district have felt the weight of the added responsibilities and challenges that come with responding to positive COVID-19 cases, shifting to virtual learning as needed, and covering classes when teachers are quarantined.
Our staff have been giving 110% for their students this year as we have all worked hard to ensure students can continue learning in person. While we value every minute students are able to be in the classroom, our teachers have been running on empty and we want them to be able to take time to refuel so they can continue supporting their students at full capacity.
Responding to the urgent needs of our staff, we have scheduled a non-instructional day next Friday, October 22. This means that there will be no school for students and staff next Friday, October 22.
We are hopeful our staff will be able to use this time to relax, reflect, and regroup as we prepare to enter the last few weeks before winter break. For students who will be at home during this time, we would encourage them to use this time to continue with a book they have been reading for pleasure, to explore a new one, or to use this time to relax and reflect as well.
Thank you for your continued partnership as we all remain focused on student success while facing an ongoing global pandemic.
Sincerely,
Superintendent Kimberly Carter
