Salary Range: Based on BCEA salary schedule: $50,000-$82,010

*Based on 2023-2024 pay scale.

Other Incentives & Opportunities

Probationary teacher stipend for effective ratings: $500 annually
Coaching and advising in arts, athletics, and academic teams: $1,500 - $5,000+
Loan forgiveness: Individuals teaching in qualifying schools may be eligible for up to $5,000 in federal tuition loan forgiveness of Direct FFEL Subsidized or Unsubsidized Loans after five complete and consecutive years of teaching at the school. Secondary math teachers can qualify for up to $17,500 in loan forgiveness. Learn more about the qualifications here.

Deep understanding of the nuanced needs of low-income student populations, and trauma-informed teaching practices and restorative justice
Deep instructional expertise, developing student-centered classroom
A willingness to go above and beyond to contribute to student achievement
A knack for engaging students in such a way that brings out the best in every child

Qualifications

Michigan Department of Education Teaching Certificate with endorsement in English (BA or BX 6-12)
Documented proof of ability to meet requirements for teaching in a secondary English classroom as defined by the ESSA Act is required.

School Safety Clearance

The successful candidate will be subject to a fingerprint and background check as a condition of employment. All fees required for this check (estimated $73.00) will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
