What We’re Looking for
Possession of a valid Michigan Teaching Credential in the appropriate content area as required by state law and board policy
Academic coaching experience
5 years of demonstrated effectiveness as a teacher
Essential Job Functions:
Equity-focused Transformation Coach: Facilitate the school leader’s ability to maintain a focus on student learning, while supporting the implementation of a culturally relevant, coherent, standards-based instructional program. Responsibilities include the following:
- Support the development of a Theory of Action that identifies strategic school initiatives
- Support the development of a year-long Professional Learning Plan
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency to attain dramatic gains in student learning
- Serve as a constructive "critical friend" to teacher leaders and building administrators as they envision, strategize, and reflect on the process of whole-school reform to realize academic achievement
- Work with grade-level and school-wide teams to coordinate standards-based curricula
- Build the capacity of instructional coaches to ensure the transfer implementation of professional learning into their classrooms
Preferred Qualifications
MA in Educational Leadership
Knowledgeable about Systems and Structures for ongoing continuous improvement, standards-aligned instructional planning and teaching, effective use of assessment, and culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy.
Skill and experience utilizing data for continuous instructional improvement
Experience in group facilitation and leading professional development
Knowledge of current research related to school reform, school improvement and educational equity
Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and communication skills
