

We would like to take a few minutes to inform you of what your child(ren) can look forward to each year of elementary school with Battle Creek Public Schools (BCPS), and also show you some special offerings he/she can look forward to.21st CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERSSupervised Before-school and After-school Programs
• Available to all elementary and middle school students
• Breakfast and/or dinner provided
• Homework help and academic instruction in core subjects
• Enrichment: crafts, board games, Family Y Center, cultural events, field trips, and much more.
JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENTKindergarten through fifth grade we partner with Junior Achievement for special classes and activities.
OUTDOOR EDUCATION CENTERThe Outdoor Education Center provides five major programs: the Farm Animal Program for first grade students that occurs in the spring; the Pioneer Cabin Program for third grade students occurs in the fall; the Farm Garden Program for third grade students begins in the spring, operates in concert with summer school, continues in the fall, and concludes with the residential School Camp Program for fifth grade students in the winter; and finally the residential Adventure Camp
Program for sixth grade students occurs in the fall.
BEARCAT SUMMER CLUBHOUSEAND OTHER SUMMER PROGRAMSSix weeks of summer activities and enrichment for Pre-K to 5th grade students–The morning classes focus on academics, especially reading, writing, and math. After lunch the students are involved in a variety of enrichment activities such as visits to museums and the art center, field trips, Binder Park Zoo, bowling, the Y-Center, and Sherman Lake
Camp, sponsored by 21st Century. Science is taught as part of the Outdoor Education Center program that students attend one day a week. We also have other summer choices including MEAP preparation, Kidz Kamp, TWIST Program, Freedom School, and the
Garden Guide Program (subject to change). Check with an elementary school principal for all the options or call 965-3883.
