Outdoor Education Center / Clear Lake Camp

The students in Battle Creek Public Schools have the unique opportunity for curriculum enhancement by participating in programs at the Outdoor Education Center (OEC).  The Center is located 12 miles north of Battle Creek near Dowling, MI on beautiful Clear Lake.  The OEC is carrying on a tradition that has spanned over 60 years. Almost every grade level has some educational program at the Outdoor Education Center.  There is “No Child Left Inside” in the Battle Creek Public School District!

Students in the district will participate in the following programs:

1^st grade               →       Single Day program, Baby Farm Animals - SUSPENDED

Fall 3^rd grade         →       Single Day program, Pioneer Cabin Living History - SUSPENDED

Spring 3^rd grade     →       Weekly day programs to begin Garden Guide Program - SUSPENDED

Summer 3^rd grade  →       Continue as Summer Garden Guides (optional) - SUSPENDED

Fall 4^th grade   →       Weekly day programs to conclude Garden Guide Program - SUSPENDED

5^th grade     →      Week long residential School Camp Program with an Environmental Impact emphasis

6^th grade  →  Week long residential Adventure camp program with a Challenge/Team building emphasis              

Other Opportunities……

-Students enrolled in the summer school program, Bearcat Camp, spend one afternoon a week at the Outdoor Education Center participating in various age specific programs.

-Special School Events have been hosted at the Outdoor Education Center.  Call Amy Cherry, Director to schedule your school staff picnic or team building day. 269- 721-8161

-Family Weekend Programs- We host a spring Eco Trail Race, fall Open House, Family Robotics and Spring Break Programs.  Check our calendar and visit our website for more details.
