The students in Battle Creek Public Schools have the unique opportunity for curriculum enhancement by participating in programs at the Outdoor Education Center (OEC). The Center is located 12 miles north of Battle Creek near Dowling, MI on beautiful Clear Lake. The OEC is carrying on a tradition that has spanned over 60 years. Almost every grade level has some educational program at the Outdoor Education Center. There is “No Child Left Inside” in the Battle Creek Public School District!
Students in the district will participate in the following programs:
1st grade → Single Day program, Baby Farm Animals - SUSPENDED
Fall 3rd grade → Single Day program, Pioneer Cabin Living History - SUSPENDED
Spring 3rd grade → Weekly day programs to begin Garden Guide Program - SUSPENDED
Summer 3rd grade → Continue as Summer Garden Guides (optional) - SUSPENDED
Fall 4th grade → Weekly day programs to conclude Garden Guide Program - SUSPENDED
5th grade → Week long residential School Camp Program with an Environmental Impact emphasis
6th grade → Week long residential Adventure camp program with a Challenge/Team building emphasis
-Students enrolled in the summer school program, Bearcat Camp, spend one afternoon a week at the Outdoor Education Center participating in various age specific programs.
