The Counseling Department Overview The counseling department at Central is staffed by five counselors, the registrar, and a secretary. Each counselor is responsible for approximately 350 students. Counselor Assignments are as follows:
Counselors
work with students to provide guidance on We implement intervention strategies for academic concerns, personal issues, and social issues in individual and small group settings and help coordinate community resource referrals and interventions where appropriate. Students apply for a variety of programs (e.g. Calhoun Area Technology Center, Extended Day Credit Recovery Programs, Dual Enrollment options at Kellogg Community College, Battle Creek Board of Education and Battle Creek Community Foundation Scholarships and Summer Programs) through their counselor. We also work as a group to coordinate school-wide programming for progress reporting to parents, hosting on-site college visitations, financial aid workshops, voluntary and mandated testing programs, Calhoun Area Technology Center visits for 10th graders, and other guidance related activities. The registrar is the keeper of all transcript records and graduations. If you need to request a copy of a transcript you can contact the registrar. Counselors cannot prepare transcripts.
