General Information

Students entering the high school are presented with the opportunity of selecting a program of study. This often involves making difficult decisions. It is well known from experience and research that high school students have not always arrived at their vocational choices and frequently change their plans.

Before entering high school, each student should make a choice within broad limits. The curriculum that is selected and the subjects that are elected should be governed to a considerable degree by the student's vocational plans.

Factors that frequently enter into the choice of a curriculum are parents' wishes, and advice of relatives or friends. Although these are important considerations, the student's real interest, ability, aptitude, and school records are probably more important. It is, therefore, recommended that parents, students, and counselors obtain as much information as possible in these areas before making a decision.

Battle Creek Central High School partners with other educational agencies to offer broad support for a variety of interests. Follow the links for the Calhoun Area Technology Center and Battle Creek Area Math and Science Center on the left side link panel to discover how these programs compliment the rich curriculum offered at Central. While our program is comprehensive and meets the needs of most students, in certain circumstances we also expand our curricular offerings to include courses offered at Kellogg Community College.
